Fortress Stabilization Carbon Fiber/Kevlar® Straps

Fractured and bowed walls can often be stabilized and repaired using Fortress Stabilization Systems, a carbon fiber/Kevlar® strap technology that stops wall shifting without the need for outside excavation. StayDry® Basement Waterproofing of MI is a certified installer of Fortress Stabilization Systems. Fortress Stabilization Systems has developed a time-tested and proven method of foundation and crack repair that restores the integrity and stability of the foundation. By using carbon-fiber Kevlar® sheet straps in combination with specifically designed epoxy, foundation repair can be performed effectively and efficiently with minimal obtrusion or obstruction. The Fortress Straps can be used in combination with Kevlar Neckties, which are Aramid Composite webbing straps that loop through an aluminum bracket that is lag bolted to the bond board of the home. The Aramid Composite webbing strap is then laminated and epoxied to the carbon fiber Fortress Strap so that it ties in and permanently secures and prevents future lateral movement of the wall.
Steel I beam Reinforcement
StayDry® can also install Steel I-beam Reinforcements which are steel I-beams securely attached to the floor joists of the home and then either bolted to or set beneath the concrete floor of the basement. These steel I-beams support and bear the lateral weight and movement of the bowing foundation wall. This method was more commonly used before the development of the Fortress Stabilization Straps, but is still often installed and used today. The steel I-beams do create some obtrusion and obstruction in the basement, but for some homeowners, depending on their particular foundation repair in MI or IN, this is the recommended solution of choice.
Wall Plate and Earth Anchors
Wall Plate and Earth Anchors are another foundation repair solution that StayDry® of MI can professionally install. With these Wall Plates and Earth Anchors we can stabilize, repair, and correct most bowing and bulging foundation walls. How these plates and anchors work is very simple. We install the wall plates to your basement wall and they are connected by a steel anchor rod to earth anchors which are buried in the soil outside. At the wall plate we tighten a nut on the end of the anchor rod which draws the plate and anchor toward each other. This secures the wall from any further inward lateral movement and can be used to gradually straighten and repair the bowed wall. Wall Plates and Earth Anchors are very commonly used to stabilize and correct bowed and bulging walls and StayDry® can expertly install them for you.
Complete or Partial Block Wall Rebuilds
Occasionally foundation walls are too far gone to correct or straighten with the the above mentioned methods of repair, so our veteran foundation consultants may recommend a Complete or Partial Wall Rebuild. When performing a wall rebuild the exterior soil next the wall is excavated and the house is temporarily and securely jacked up to lift the load from the wall. The damaged concrete blocks are removed and new blocks are laid, rebar and concrete is then placed into the cores of the blocks periodically for added stability and sheer reinforcement.

Wall Straightening - Concrete Re-bar Shear Reinforcement
Some basement and foundation walls that only have slight bowing or bulging can be straightened with the simple use of securely placed thick wood posts and blocks. Wall Straightening in certain situations is a smart, affordable alternative to rebuilding your foundation wall. Over a period of days StayDry® can return a foundation wall to its original and plumb state. Once the wall has been straightened our crews then install Concrete Rebar Sheer Reinforcement. For Sheer Reinforcement our installer's periodically drill 4 inch holes into the cores of the blocks that are three courses high. They then insert approximately 16” steel rebar vertically into the holes and then fill the cores with concrete. Once the cores have been filled with concrete to the height of the drilled hole we then fill the holes back in with cement. After the concrete has cured the base of the wall is securely reinforce against any future lateral sheering.
Poured Wall Crack Injection
Often time's poured walls shift and settle and crack, but that does not mean the structural integrity of the wall has been compromised. Upon inspection by StayDry® we can tell you for certain if you may be experiencing early signs of a foundation repair problem, or if you simply have a water intrusion problem. Small cracks in poured foundation walls can be easily and affordably be repaired permanently with our Polyurethane Crack Injection which comes with a Lifetime Warranty.
